Shooting mergansers is on the same level as shooting coots to me. I know some people do it, but I don't care to. Besides, they apparently taste so bad, the dog spits them out!

Merganzers make a good gumbo. Add in some sardines, and you almost forget the buggers eat fish. :D

Personally, I shoot everyone of the nast creatures that flies through the decoys when I'm hunting public just so the real duck hunters out there don't get the opportunity to kill any mallards. :twisted:

A drake hooded merganser is a beautiful duck and several years ago, I shot one to have mounted. Since then, they have been safe from me, though.

sure i shoot'em.. just last year alone i had the follwoing hunt..

6 ducks: 2 wood ducks, 2 green wing teal 1 butter duck and 1 mallard

then 1 hooded merg..
followed by 5 common mergs
and 5 red-brested mergs..

walked out of the hole with:::

17 waterfowl and i was all legal...

well x-cept i shot till 6:00 p.m.... bwabwaaaa :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

i got the best damn merg hole in miss...

I voted yes, because if I see one in full plumage he will be hanging on the wall! Otherwise, I don't shoot em' cause I aint' gonna eat em'

I have killed them because I knew someone that liked them..I don't like the taste of them there for I wont kill no more of them..If I don't like the taste of a species of ducks I will not kill anymore of them ..Never killed a Shoveler killed a few last year mounted one And ate 5..Shovelers are safe around me...I killed a coot to say that I did...If I wont eat it I wont kill it...Thats the way it should be...

the drakes are purty but i think that i would be embarased ( sp ) to take 'em to the taxidermist . Eat 'em ? dont think so . So why would i shoot em . There fer the answer is NO...

killed a pair of them bout 20 years ago to have mounted. they are good lookin mounts........never shot at one since....long time ago decided not to kill it if'n you aint gonna eat it.......that if it flies it dies & if it's brown it's down chit don't git round me.... 8) :wink:
