Jeff, I believe your fish story now...

Postby Wingman » Mon Jun 13, 2005 9:22 pm

I witnessed a carp leaping spectacle this afternoon where the runout from Tunica Cutoff enters the Mississippi.

One sailed right over my head and landed on the other seat beside me, but flipped out of the boat. Another landed on the gunwale and fell out also. Then two, back to back, landed in the boat and flopped madly around. I figure them to be 30 and 15 pounds. These things were jumping 5-6 feet out of the water.

I've heard of carp hitting you in the boat and I now believe it. If I had been going full speed, I would still be in the river and my boat somewhere down by Greenville now.

I was idling across the lake and had one jump and it came down on my head. Thank goodness I was just idling and not running fast. Nobody would have believed me, but somebody was fishing close and saw it.

One afternoon on Lake Whittington River Hunter, my wife, and I were running the lake when all of a sudden a 25+ Lb fish lands in my wife's lap. Before I knew what had happen my wife and River Hunter were standing on the back deck of the boat and the huge fish was under my feet. I was laughing so hard I couldn't breath! We had another come up and hit my arm but the real site was what was going on behind the boat they were everywhere. I saw a show about them on TV on 48 Hours or some show like that.

And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground-everything that has the breath of life in it, they will be your food.
