iced fields

if you were to hunt in a field iced over, would the decoy spread need to be close together in the right size hole or spread out in a larger hole

Either way could work, but I've had better luck in smaller holes. Icy cold conditions = tight decoys. I bunch them together as close as I can get them and still get wind movement. Live ducks bunch up when it's really cold. JMHO :D
