Opening weekend forecast

Postby Wildfowler » Tue Nov 22, 2022 8:53 am

Anybody got any ducks penned up for this weekend?

I think we got a few. And I’m hoping to pick up where I left off last February with that Ross goose band. That was pretty fun.

Should be one for the ledgers to be read about for seasons to come!

Helped a buddy drag his blind in last week and birds are here. Hopefully everyone capitalizes on it.

Nary a duck. Dry as a mummies pocket. Friday rain? Bring it on.

A couple wood ducks maybe, but Ill be ready for deer & pigs, which is more likely.

Could it be a trifecta weekend? I tell you this, the sportsman is eternally optimistic.

Lots of shooting near me this morning. About par for opening weekend, after which the ducks usually get stale so you gotta try to get your hunts in early in the season. Heard a few boats drive by my camp at midnight and 1AM, so some guys spent the night to hold a spot. Hope they got some.

Unfortunately, we have no standing water and all this rain has done is get my roads muddy. Might force me to hunt the public water next weekend for the first time in a decade

Very quiet at the local WMA. Got skunked.

Not even the deer or squirrel hunters stayed past 9:00 a.m.

Made the best of it by making some far away scouting trips on foot, easy walking under current conditions, and no one else hunting.

Buddies thumped them pretty good. I did enjoy a deer hunt with my nephew and his dad. His first hunt and man was he excited.

Other than that I enjoyed the flu, delta crud, and Covid. Did y’all know Covid still exist?

Didn't duck hunt but killed a deer on my club in Monroe county. Dry as a bone over here. Hope the rain this week fills up some of my duck holes to the West.

Anyone have any extended heat wave hunting tactics to share?

More importantly does anyone have any ducks still on their property in spite of this heat wave?

I refuse to wear a short sleeve shirt to go duckhunting in, but if this keeps up, I may have to make an exception.

Does everyone have all the water they need now?

Hope everyone is in good shape and getting some action.

It would seem everyone has the water.
I haven't even looked much less tried to hunt since teal season. Too caught up in the deer as of late.
Looking for 2 duck calls from Dominic Serio of Greenwood (ones for Novacaine)

Water shouldn’t be a problem but you can always use an inch during duck season. Cold is about to be here for a few days.
