I've heard a lot of comments from disgruntled folks about MWF's stance on the pump issue.....personally, I hope they get the message, and change their stance on the issue.....but, I doubt it.....they may not suffer financially because they've got those big-money tree-hugging supporters, but their membership is going to tank.

Hey everyone, we have reached out to #finishthepumps to let them know there is space available in the MS Wildlife Extravaganza for them. We are awaiting their response.

Kudos to randy Wallace for his quotes in clarion ledger article on the extravaganza. Like he said people talk with their money and then folks will listen. From the list of pullouts gonna be a slim crowd. Somebody must have really put the pressure on mdwfp to pull out.
Whoever is in charge of marketing for that event just got canned I would bet. This won’t be forgotten. Not very smart to shun the best hunting place in the state

Re: MS Wildlife Extravaganza Boycott
I am on record here as being against the pumps long ago the last time this was discussed here.
Long ago for selfish reasons I thought if the pumps were finished I could kiss goodbye any more freelance hunting at panther swamp or DNF during high water events like back in 05 at the end of the season.
The last two weeks of that season were some of the most fun I’ve had. Suddenly having 1000’s of acres of woods to hunt in.
By my way of thinking, any flooding would only be short term. What’s the worst that would happen? I thought to myself that farmers might not be able to plant corn that year and would have to just plant late beans instead if there was a late spring flood.
I wish to publicly apologize for being dead booty wrong about this issue.
I had no clue that 100’s of thousands of acres could remain flooded for six months straight.
Even if it was only recreational land affected. Not being able to manage for waterfowl crops for an entire season is devastating.
I am sorry. I was wrong in my way of thinking about the issue previously.

Just as a personal note. When the primary state agency responsible for ensuring that our vast outdoor resources are there for us to use, decides not to participate in your biggest outdoor activities event; you probably have a serious problem. And I, for one, do not really want to be a part of it.
Nobody owes you anything.

Excuse me if I don’t see MDWFP as a white knight here. What’s been their history, pre-new-WMA, on the pumps issue?
