Any chance the hunting season west of Highway 61 is prematurely closed this year due to the rising Mississippi River?

Was it two seasons ago this happened for deer season?

River was a good bit higher, at least on the Vburg gage, when they closed it before.

Mahannah has been closed. I'm sure they'll lock it down again.

Big difference. Mahannah’s flooding is not directly related to Big Muddy stage. Private land nearby has not been closed.

I believe they shut down the south Delta to deer hunting in 2016 when the Steele Bayou landside gauge reached 90’. It’s at 86.87’ right now, but I cannot find a forecast crest.

It will shut down soon. 43’ is currently predicted on Vicksburg flood stage on the 18. That doesn’t account for this last front I believe therefore I predict it will. Come a few days before. Honestly it should shutdown around 41 in my opinion.
