Crushed Stone

Postby msudawg8087 » Mon Sep 17, 2018 1:18 pm

Where's the best place to get crushed stone around the Central MS area? Live in Clinton and am working on a fire pit area in my backyard. Pit was built a few months back and looking to finish the sitting area around it. Will have probably a 12ft ish diameter circle of pavers around the pit filled in with some sort of crushed stone inside. Also, don't have a certain type of stone in mind so all suggestions welcome.

Give Paul Younger a call.

I did a similar project a few years back and used crushed concrete as my base & topped with 1” basic gravel.
Looks like I’ve deleted the picture of the finished project, but it turned out nice & the crushed concrete was inexpensive.

Another option is to check the place in Pocahontas next to peepee of the Walk. I purchased a few pallets of rock from him a few years ago to make a rock garden around the pool. Beats the hell out of fooling with plants back there.

Just as a follow up, I spoke with Paul from Southern Crushed Concrete yesterday. Super nice dude. Seems like he'd be easy to deal with. They only sell their material by the ton which is a little more than I need. Also spoke with Southern Sod Supply out of Pearl. A load of 610 Limestone is $65 per yard with an additional $125 fee if you need it delivered.

Only place I haven't called yet is the place in Pocahontas suggested by Peewee. Passed by there on the way to Madison this past weekend and their sign says Jackson Stone. Internet information shows it as Pocahontas Stone Co. Gonna try the number listed on there and see what they have to say.

Just find one of those piles on the side of the road that the county puts out there for people and go get what you need :D That's the best deal I've found
