Lefty-youth?

Daughter has expressed interest in shooting doves and ducks this yr.

Going out to get a gun is not just as simple as getting a gun.

I understand a gas auto will be more enjoyable. Gotta find a lefty version.

With that said. What are/did y’all start the young ones out with? I’m leaning toward an 870 youth. Then again, a cheaper o/u might fit the bill.

I’m at a loss. She’s not dying to get one but wants one lol. I’ve got time and would like to get one that is the best of all worlds. If even applicable

Escort is what my son has been using the last 4 years. Lefty version, gas operated, 22 inch bbl. Been a good gun for us.. I would likely say to stay away from an 870 or O/U (depends on her age/size) Feel free to msg me if you want to know more..

My son's first trips will likely be with the same ole H&R 410 single shot I used to take my first ducks. I bought him a Yildiz 410 o/u. He hasn't yet wanted to shoot it, but hope he will. So I'll address the left handed stuff later when he wants / is ready for more fire power.

Thanks for the reply’s. I’ll have to check on that escort.

Teul I started her off with my old 410 last year. Actually used it for a few kids to get their first kills last yr.

Sob kicks like a mule. I never thought much about it being a small gauge, but mine doesn’t have any rubber padding. Straight hard plastic. Several kids mentioned it hurt a bit. And yes I was making sure a good shoulder placement was there. So, I shot it. Granted it didn’t fit me at all but I’d rather shoot turkey loads out of my 12 than multiple shots with it. Surprised me, and 3 other grown folks. Hence now I’m looking for something a little easier on the shoulder!

So make sure the little guy has a pad on it!

My dad was always too cheap to shell out cash for a lefty gun, so I always shot browning BPS's growing up, as they eject out the bottom. Of course when i was younger all of these "knock-off" auto shotgun brands weren't around, but it might be something to look into if you are looking to save a few bucks.

My lefty has been using the escort for a few years. Easy on the pocket and shoots well.
