Highway access

Postby mshunter77 » Tue May 15, 2018 8:42 pm

So we are putting in some highway access and when we spoke with the highway department to get a permit they said the county may help pay for it. Well we got in contact with the county and they will pay for the culvert, and deliver and set it. They said MDOT should pay for the gravel and take of bringing it out and putting it in. Anybody know if this is normal for MDOT to do?

I’ve got no clue if this is normal, but I’m thinking you should not ask too many questions and just let them do it. Might as will get some what of a return on your tax dollar.

I think this is pretty normal. Several years ago, i called the county to see what i needed to do to put a culvert in for access to my house site, and they sent someone to meet me so i could show where i wanted it. A couple of days later they were putting it in.

Guess that’s where that extra 1% city sales tax is going?

Good for you!!

Yazoo county provided the culvert and we had to do the rest. Still saved us some money that we were expecting to spend.

All counties give one culverts and gravel over it. Anything else..... If it's a school bus turnaround the sky is limit. Way back then since already had culvert they took the one I was entitled to and used it where needed for the turn around. Then got 14 loads of gravel and graded nicely. Your relationship to your supervisor helps too; but ain't supposed to say that....Smaller counties helps too.
