Me and about 3 other guys moved one for an old boss one time. Had a truck with a Tommy Lift on it that we used to lift it. He had some kind of dolly that we were able to get it set up on to roll it along inside the house. Just a home made job with 2x4's and rubber wheel casters from Home Depot. It wasn't too bad of a job.

Unless you have some corn-fed youngsters with a big appliance dolly, $200 - $250 is well worth it.

If it's still on the pallet you are golden, just rent a rolling pallet jack for $60. But the corn fed youngsters are still handy.

Yea, a pallet jack and a truck with a tommy lift are going to be key.

I bought one of the 40-gun safes from TSC — lower tier Cannon brand. Short and fat one. I don’t remember what it weighs but me and 2 buddies moved it around the house over hardwood floors, sliding it on blanket. It was laying on its back while we moved it around, then we tilted it upright somehow.

Just whatever you do, don't let it fall off the pallet into the yard as you're trying to get it off of said pallet. Did that with a liberty 30 gun a couple years back because i was too hardheaded to ask anybody for help since i was new in town. Had to get all Egyptian on it with levers and blocks of wood. After that, it rolled just like i had planned on 1" oak dowels.

At the end of that ordeal, $250 would've been a bargain.

I have loaded and moved hundreds of these. If you don’t want to pay $250 here is the best way to do it. First rent a big heavy appliance dolly that has the wheels and frames that kick out the back. Move it to the back of the truck just a couple of feet out from the tailgate. Then tilt it over to the tailgate and then lift from the bottom and slide it in. Just do the reverse to take it out. A pallet jack is also an option but depending on how wide the pallet is regular size pallet jacks do not fit on lots of the safe pallets. You can do it with two men but three does make the lifting easier.
