I've been on here since 04. It shows 06 but I lost my password and had to make a new profile. But I mentioned years ago about a membership fee to keep all this from happening and I was almost run out of town for even mentioning it...lol

I think a fee membership would be no big deal for most of us who wish to participate at that level.

Other websites do it and perhaps you could include some additional privileges as part of the Fee?

Been here since 2006. I don't post much, but I do check in most days of the week. Have bought several items and guns from other posters here. Never a bad deal with a MSducker.

Well I might be one of the guys folks around here accuse of pimping his business on the FB group but I will chime in anyhow.

I've been around as long as I can remember. like some others my profile shows a much later join date because I cant keep up with crap and had to re-join. As some of you know I was also part of a very large web site and magazine that is now all but gone.

Social media has changed a lot of things, some for the better, some, not so much.

But I don't think the FB move is a bad one. It is change and growth, and nobody likes change too much. Growth is good but it can feel like we old timers are being crowded out of "our" corner of the internet. But honestly, without growth and change, things die.

Yeah, I hate the 1000th question about what choke to shoot or which brand of decoy is the best, but folks, we were all greenhorn newbies at one time or another. And like it or not, without new blood coming into our shared tradition, that tradition and waterfowling and conservation will die. Attrition is the biggest enemy to hunting heritage, not new guys who come to sites and facebook pages trying to learn.

So yeah, it is different and yeah it might not feel the same. But we still have this little corner of the web where us old farts can sneak away and talk about old time, and for those who can stand the new pup enthusiasm on FB, you have the chance to help mentor and mold the future of waterfowling. Not by shaming of laughing at a kid with a painted face, proudly showing off his scraggly strap of hen wood ducks and merganzers, but by encouraging them to keep the passion alive, to listen to sound advice and to always strive to learn, grow and become the kind of waterfowl hunter who will helpp insure this Grand Tradition continues long after we old farts are in the dust.

Good post Tupe. I think we need a revival. I will let gator lead. Maybe we can all paint our faces and go stand at our favorite WMA, hold hands and sing kumbaya :D

I love this site, I joined in 2001, so yes I am fond of it being a local group, so to speak.
