How does this happen?

Friend of mine killed this Mallard in Winston County this morning and he said while cleaning it it looked like there were rice kernels embedded

in the meat in the breast of the duck.

How in the world does this happen?

Do ducks literally fall out of the sky so hard when they migrate that whatever they land on could penetrate it’s skin like this?

rice breast...not really rice and even though it is supposed to be safe when thoroughly cooked, i opt not to.

Has anyone here ever knowingly consumed a duck that looks like that and lived to tell the story?

when I was a broke college student, we would cut all the rice from the breast and save it for our gumbo. Took a while, but eventually we'd have enough for a small bowl.
