I'm too dang busy to even get on here anymore since taking a new job and promotions etc... I usually get on here every few weeks and scour the post to see what's out there but not much time anymore for the random post of the past.

We all just getting old. I see a lot of names on here that I remember from the last 10-15 years when this site was in its hay day
If it's a hen we know who killed it.

I think the busier our lives get then the more that we look to cut loose from in order to fill it with something else. I do miss the old days as it seemed it was a non-stop daily exercise. Everything runs its course over time I guess.

Re: Has Social Media killed DS?
This place used to be like crack to me, if I went three or four days without checking it, it drove me crazy. I joined I think in 2001 and stayed with it pretty religiously. I really only weined myself when the site went down for that time period not long ago.... But I don't check it now but maybe 2 times a week.
The main reasons I think are
1) social media.... For most people they prefer to scroll FB or Instagram rather than read message boards.
2) Duck hunting, regarding what most believe, say, or experienced, in my opinion has been on a down slide the last several years. As a result less talk about it, and let's face it, deer are boring to talk about.
3) a lot of the members of this site have moved on or post much less. I miss Benny (we should extend an invite).... Even if we had to ban him again.... MSDuckmen, Anatidae..... Just to name three of the hundreds of posters who have always given good insight and gave history behind their opinions. This site lost something when it became uninteresting to those guys. I think some of it was people expressing their opinion in a not so polite manner, when 99% of them wouldn't say it in public to someone's face....
4) what's left to debate? Spinners are legal and are even somewhat outdated, season framework hasn't changed for as long as I can remember, steel shot has gotten better (but still sucks), and it has finally been proven without a doubt that Missouri is short stopping ducks with unlimited corn in their refuges.
It took a long time for the new to wear off this site, but it did. I hate it.

Re: Has Social Media killed DS?
As board participation wanes, it good thought to consider condensing the board. Just too many sub forums. I hate to wander thru big message boards. Consider down sizing please to keep things together and active!! jmho
