When the site crashed last year and was down for several months, I got out of the habit of logging in several times a day from my PC. I had done this for 10 years, so it was habit. Once the site was revived (thanks Micah & Rocky), I had to re-teach myself the daily routine. We definitely lost some folks during that time. I also think other social media outlets (phasebook, instagram, snapchat, twitter, etc...) have gained popularity since the good ole days of MS Ducks & many of our members are engaged in those. There's only so much time in a day to spend on non-work or non-family time, so we are simply spread too thin keeping up with all those outlets. I think another thing that affected activity here was the smart phone. Yes, folks still look at the site on them rather than a PC or LapTop, but actually posting from an iphone is simply not as efficient as the ole keyboard (for me anyway). It’s 2nd nature for the young guns though, but most of them simply do not have the experience & knowledge to drop like the seasoned vets on there. No offense to the young guns!
I'm sure we are gaining members due to all the cool new things Rocky is doing with the site so that's a good thing. I know this. Many a good relationships have been developed because of this forum and no one can take that away from us!
I'm still not sure how the app thingy works so maybe Rocky can set up a training session via On the X podcast

Feather, this old head is still lurking around. Not much to talk about this year or last,, slow slow season.

Retired life will put you in a different mode, when I worked I logged on first thing every morning, now I remember to check in once a week now. Still hunt some but the duck numbers sure don't get you all excited like they used to. Maybe I am just not as mad at them as I once was,,ha ha... Hope your season turns out okay, ours is hit and miss where we are hunting.

I agree with everyone else about social media, getting older, not having as much time as we once did, etc. I also think more pressure on public land and people worried about others trying to buy or lease their land out from under them has people not posting what they have killed also. My duck season has been pretty good this year. Been great when the weather is good. My deer season has almost been non existent tho.

I, like others, really have no excuse other than I just got out of the habit of logging on. The other social sites/outlets are "in your face" more often and I have neglected this site. I promise to do better though! :D :D

Been nothin' controversial to stir things up. Apparently everyone has figured out what rice breast is, where the natural banks of a navigable water body are, what is/is not baiting, and no one needs help identifying what they just shot.

I fall into the iPhone category and do a lot of reading but not much posting because it's a bit cumbersome. Don't do bookface, only have instagram for gun porn, and use twitter as my only source of news from the outside world. The knowledge and people on this forum are what drive me to visit the site several times a day. The way of the world now a days is quick and easy. Those that choose can instatwitchatbookface something a heckuva lot faster than making a post on a forum, so why go through the trouble? Just thinking out loud, a duckstagram could be money....

Need to get another one of our gatherings together. Remember when we would have a gathering about once every few months. We had several at Old Venice off of Frontage Road in Jackson. I know that place has closed, but I am sure there are other locations.

Completely agree with the OP. This is a great site and the admins are doing an amazing job. However, posts seem way down. What happened?

FB happened. The "youngsters" head to FB groups now rather than the "old school" (that ain't THAT old) forums. I think what you are seeing is the lack of "new blood." And the 1000 bots per day that want to register here does not make it easier to get new folks on. YMMV.

I got on here for the wealth of dog knowledge, and then career and kids happened. Still check in a few times a week... maybe I should get in another argument with DIB, ya know for old times sake.

Find Benny and bring him back so he can stir the pot and get us going again.
