Bald Eagles

Postby teul2 » Tue Dec 13, 2016 10:24 am

Anyone else notice more eagles lately? I saw 3 separate bald eagles this weekend. It was quite impressive.
Looking for 2 duck calls from Dominic Serio of Greenwood (ones for Novacaine)

I've been seeing a pair just north of Minter City all year.

we had 2 juvies and an adult using our #1 hole towards the end of last season...no choice (legal, other than observation), but to pack up & leave 'em be. It was a favorite place to bring wounded snows to devour, leaving a white layer of feathers from one end of the hole to the other!

Bald eagles can ruin a duck hunt. Waterfowl understands that danger and reacts to it. They leave.

I was surprised that the juvenile we saw was sitting in a tree with better than a dozen mallards on the water under him.

But, the first one I saw Saturday was hot on a hen mallards tail till she was able to loose him in some trees.

Two have a nest across from my house. Have seen them fishing the catfish ponds, over there, for several years.

There are two breeding pairs at Trace Lake in Pontotoc County. See them frequently fishing there.

Used to be a pair that nested about 200m from the west end of Mcintyre from the mid 90s to the mid 00s.
