Crossbow help

Postby Ducklord » Fri Jul 29, 2016 11:37 am

I am looking at buying a crossbow for me, but I am going to let my 7 yr old shoot it too. I will mainly hunt with regular bow, but figure this will be good to take my daughter out in the box stands. Anyone have any recommendations? Is the reverse draw worth the money? also, what about this Acudraw? Is it that difficult to draw the bow or is this just a gimmick? Thanks!

Thank you for your help! I went to B&B and got a Mission crossbow. They were very helpful out there, so I appreciate the recommendation. My daughter hit bullseye first shot, so I was sold!

I have an Excalibur matrix 405. it's louder than than the xbows with a cam, but it slings a 400 grain bolt at 387 fps, and it has awesome optics so I'm good with it. easy to work on myself and change strings out. also, the bolts are reasonably priced compared to some of the competitors bows and bolt set up. the negative for my bow, is weight. if it was for a kid, I would prob get the matrix micro 355 set up. not quite the fps but plenty of kinetic energy to put down big game.

I bought the dagger with the XB Pro scope. It has the Hawke XB-1: 1.5-5×32 SR Etched Reticle, Variable speed 2-color Illuminated scope. I didn't shoot the 360 or 400 because she said they were louder, and I wanted something quiet so my daughter wouldn't be hesitant about shooting it. Deer season can't get here fast enough
