They can be sopping wet and caked in mud to beyond recognition; when I pick them up in said condition, within 5 minutes, my hands go from miserably cold back to functioning. In 10 minutes, my hands are warm. God knew what he was doing when he made wool. We cannot improve upon it, and it is the only material on the planet that can be sopping wet and still keep me warm. The good thing about these in gloves (among many) is that they still allow some dexterity, and they certainly allow shooting. Their only downside is that they can be slick on some guns. But if you have a fancy gun with some traction coating to it, there are no issues:
