Milwaukee, WI trip

Postby teul2 » Fri Jun 17, 2016 2:38 pm

I have to go up to Milwaukee, WI (Brookfield really) to the corporate office in two weeks, and feel sure I'll have some down time the first night and maybe some others. I have gone to the the Cabela's store up there (amazing), done some brewery tours on the Lakeshore in Milwaukee.

Anything else you all know I should go see?

If the Brewers are at home, i've always wanted to see them play at home. They say it is one of the most affordable and fun parks in the major leagues.

Went during the dead of winter several years ago. Flew in just as they closed the airport for a blizzard. Ended up being stuck in the hotel for a few days. They do have a sense of humor. An led billboard sign on the freeway from the airport said to "Smile, it's 92 degrees in the Bahamas". You might take a jacket to wear at night. Considering the heat here it will feel pretty cool at night especially if the wind is coming off the lake. Couple of good places to eat that cater to specific ethnic backgrounds. I remember one German place that served great sausage and beer in the actual beer steins. If you are staying over a weekend grab the Amtrack to Union Station in Chicago.

Found out yesterday that my first whole day in town is the first day of their Summer Fest on the lakefront. Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson will be playing at 8 and 10PM that night. Trying to get tickets to that since I've never seen Willie live.

Summerfest was going to be my recommendation. Besides that not much to do. I spent a fair amount of time up there b/w 2005-2009.
