What If MS Legalized Weed As A Crop?
Re: What If MS Legalized Weed As A Crop?
MS will look back in 30 years (when it's legal everywhere anyway) and realize it missed a home run by not doing this...especially when you realize 75% of the people smoke it anyway illegally. Instead of not having paper for kids to take tests on in our super underfunded schools they could tax it and make billions (yes billions) but I keep forgetting MS already has the casinos and has plenty of tax money coming in.

Gentlemen,
Nobody has yet been able to answer one very important question. Yes, they are making a whole lot of money with pot being legal in these places. And yes, the states where it is legal are making a lot of tax revenue. Of course, these states are also spending a lot more on medical and social services as a direct result of this legalization, so I think it is at best a wash for the states. At least that is the lesson from history. But, umm.
Where are these businesses putting their proceeds? They can't deposit any of it into a Federally insured bank. Their employees cannot deposit their paychecks into a Federally insured bank account?
And if they simply stockpile their cash in a storage room somewhere like a Mexican drug lord, how are they securing it? THAT is what makes this such a dangerous business.

Looks like state credit unions...
Not sure what happens to it if you buy it with a debit card though

And the Marijuana Policy Project, one of the top backers of the Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol, said in Colorado the tax revenue from legalization exceeds the cost of regulating the drug. Colorado's system led to more than $135 million in state revenue in 2015, the group said.
I'm sure in the 30s people looked down on alcohol (as the population used it anyway) it ended up legal and I personally think it's a way to make MS ALOT of money if MS could get ahead of the game it could boost the $#!+ economy a ton

You didn't offend me at all. I am a physician, so I like to see cold hard facts when it comes to such things. As a medical professional I see much less problems with MJ than I do with all other "vices" - ie tobacco, alcohol, even sex and gambling. Contrary to popular belief, the patients I see that use MJ regularly (the ones that admit it) are mostly functional members of society, 99% of them you interact with regularly and have no idea that they might smoke a joint when they get home.

That's some facts
Playing football I was paranoid and never messed with it...got in the real world and the most successful people I knew all were closet potheads...it's no different than a beer or wine at the end of the day (some people will say it's not)
You have a beer or two after work and after 30 minutes you feel like you didn't have one and I would say 99% of the world would agree pots the same way.
Mississippi is hurting for something and I know it sounds crazy but say all the tax went to education...maybe the kids would have paper to takes tests on

Re: What If MS Legalized Weed As A Crop?
yeah, but all the "taxes" from liquor, as well as casinos when they were trying to get legalization in the state, was supposed to feed the ms education system beyond its wildest dreams.....but all those dreams got absorbed in the general fund, instead
Experience is a freakin' awesome teacher...
