Truck prices are way out of control. What happened to just a solid truck that I can throw my crap in and get from A to B. I don't need all the extra crap.

Just bonkers. That's Porsche 911 money. It's hard to wrap my head around the fact that this:

costs the same as this:

I know some of you will say you'd rather an F250, but I don't think anyone 20 years ago would guess a pickup would cost the same as one.

Does anyone partially blame finance companies for this? I mean people CAN finance a truck based on a note price they can afford rather than the sticker price. I see people financing trucks for 6+ years. Thats insane.

I've got a 2006 2500HD diesel w/Allison trany with all the bells and whistles (that were available then) and it has 178,000 miles on it.
Took my wife in and bought her a Denali suv...she's happy and she said, "you might as well buy you a new truck while here"...
I looked at a Denali 2500HD and turned around and told her, "other than it looking like an elephant farted in the front seat, it looks just fine to me based on the price of a new one". Heck for $1000 I can get all new seat covers!
Guess I'm just getting cheap the older I get.

Heard that a guy went into one of the Brandon dealers and laid down $83,000 in cash and drove one off.

On a positive, it looks like they are offering the 6.7 Power Stroke again.

My first house cost half that price..............my 2nd house cost less also.
I guess $80,000 ain't what it use to be.

The used truck market should get interesting. At 75k for 17 you could probably almost get what you paid for a 16 once the 17s start hitting the lot. Further reasoning to drive my 12 F150 until the wheels fall off.

Prices are also being driven up by 20 year old kids buying these trucks because of the cool factor. They live with their parents and don't have any other bills and they spend 80% of what they make on truck payments. They have no need for a truck that big and powerful. These trucks used to only be bought by real farmers, ranchers and working folks who need the power.
