Just another reason I no longer have the desire to hunt ducks. And they wonder why the numbers of hunters are dying. It will probably take
this guy a long time to want to go duck hunting again. All it took for me was someone claiming I was trespassing and getting a ticket for not having a life jacket in the little boat I was using. (I was on COE land by the way, not trespassing). Just too many rules that make it not worth the time.

This was my case. I won't discuss it here or bash the party involved, but if you see me in person I'll be glad to tell you exactly what you should and shouldn't do in your standing grain crop duck hole to stay on the right side of the law.

That's all I'm going to say here.

We don't even plant the ranger trails that access the blind for this very reason. It doesn't look as natural but would rather have no grey area with those kind of fines. Ducks can knock down plenty on their own, they don't need any help at all, actually cool thing to watch when they land on a stalk to knock it down.

What a shame......hunter numbers are continuing to decline and people wander why......I have seen way too much on penalties for the crime with waterfowl......not to mention the bahavior of the ones writing the tickets.....crying shame.

I will tell you there is a lot of grey area in waterfowl. The Lacey Act is the most vague piece of legislation ever written. Senator Lacey wrote this to protect waterfowl but amendments have made it "VAGUE "

Even if he was running over the corn on purpose and was over his limit of ducks, 30k fine is ridiculous.

I heard the ole boy that got the ticket rubbed some local people the wrong way for buying/leasing the land out from under some people. Sounds like there is definitely more to the story Wingman. Probably some politics involved in this deal. If he was riding around picking up ducks, etc, then he definitely deserved a ticket, but we all know $30k is rediculous!!!

What if your dog knocks over stalks on retrieves, what if you do while throwing out decoys? Remember 'big brother` is watching to make sure you COMPLY...........I rarely get riled up about things, but there has to be an underlying issue here that will probably be kept hidden.

$30k lmao, is that a joke? $30k fine for running over some grain just to protect a bird?? A freakin bird?? One of the reasons I no longer duck hunt!!
