They have been wanting to/working on buying them out for several years now. I have no doubt it will happen eventually.

That'll pretty much undo the only good thing about living in south Baton Rouge.

As long as the cabelas quality stays where it is. It is easily twice as good of a value compared to redhead

I'd heard a rumor we were getting a cabelas around the I-55 and church road area. If so that'd all but bury sportsmans warehouse. They're already competing with 2 bass pros in the area.

That will really screw the pooch.

I don't want a Cabelas anywhere in Mississippi. As it stands now, I can get anything with no sales tax and free shipping (sometimes $5.00).

Once they open a store in the state fuggetaboutit.

Change is bad.

Pretty sure as of right now the church road cabelas is not going to happen. Not saying it won't still happen but right now doesn't appear it will

Looks like the deal happened. Gonna have to shop elsewhere if they put bass pro/red head quality in everything.

Beat me to it. I have been a pretty religious Cabelas shopper since their store opened in Gonzales, LA, about 10 miles from my house. It's been my observation that Cabelas has been heading downhill at a fair clip for the past 3 years. Selection, even online, is lacking. Prices have been higher. Coupons that used to be substanatial and frequent don't show up in my mailbox like they used to. I used to buy from Cabelas before shopping around much. I seemed to always have a coupon to make it the best price. Now I can always beat their sale prices on Amazon or eBay. And more recently they don't have the item I'm looking for, which never used to happen.

Not happy about the BPS deal, but it's been coming.

People demo products in store and then search for the cheapest price online. Mega outdoor stores will slowly go the way of the indoor shopping mall. Rogers can get me ammo much cheaper than BPS and without me having to take a trip to a retail location.

This sucks. I have been very happy dealing with Cabelas. Last year my waders leaked after 18 months. Customer service told me they could not replace them due to a new policy on footwear. I sent them in anyway and the people in returns sent me a new pair. Bass Pro is going to ruin them.
There will be a day....
