I'm guiding four youth this weekend on my boss' farm for the Super Hunt, our first time involved, and couldn't be more excited. Unfortunately it's going to be very wet Saturday. Any of you guys done this before? What are some things you recommend we can do if stuck inside to occupy some time?

Is this the hunt down around the Johns/Pucket area? If so, I think I am coming to help clean deer and hang out with the kids.

There are a bunch of landowners involved, so kids will be hunting all over.

Yeah, I've done this a couple times with special needs kids, it was an awesome experience. We had a rainy weekend several years ago and the kids absolutely loved mud ridding on the 4 wheeler. They had more fun doing that than sitting in a house stand. Here's the must do: go to the final day celebration at Trustmark park and listen to these kids tell their story! It will warm your heart and you'll be glad you participated. Have fun with and let the kid dictate the day/hunt.

I have not stepped up and volunteered for this even though I consider it every year. Hats off to you guys that have. I'm sure it is very rewarding for you and appreciated by those involved. Good luck, hopefully the weather will not be too bad.

if stuck inside, card games and board games! If you here a lot of "ive got the winner" you are playing the right games. make sure you play in rotation with kids. As for card games, if you have a deck of cards, the kids will have the games. As for board games, checkers, risk, monopoly are great. Do not let them watch tv or get on their phone.

Tell us how the Super Hunt weekend went. I truly hope all the kids had a great time despite the weather.

Ours was awesome. No kills while I was there due to weather, but the fellowship and food at Mr. Rhoden's farm was by far the highlight of the day. Well done to Alan Mumbower and others at MDWFP for putting this on 9 years running.

All I'll say is that you will never regret getting involved with this hunt. The past two days were awesome.

All four of our hunters shot at deer, and all but one killed a buck. Two of my hunters killed mature deer- one killed a 4 year old ten point, and another killed a very old (6+) four point that weighed 289lbs!

I was way more nervous/ impatient/ shook up then they were, that's for sure!

The rain didn't slow anyone down, but it did provide valuable time for fellowship.

Overall, we killed three bucks and two does, and I got to spend time with some really special kids and their families. These guys taught me more about patience and perspective in the last couple of days than I could have imagined.

I'm in for next year, no doubt.
