For you guys that have a late model F250, either diesel or gas, I have a couple questions:

1. For gas burners - what is typical gas mileage for a normal "around town" driver?
2. Same for the turbo diesel as #1?
3. I don't pull heavy loads, so the gas v8 will certainly suit my pulling needs.
4. I'm also weary of the 6.7 diesel turbo issues over the past 8-10 years... I know they said they've been fixed. Got a buddy that's had 3 in the last 10 years, all 3 have had some serious issues around 50k miles.

So basically, give me some feedback on these superdutys.

Ford didn't come out with the 6.7 until 2011 I believe. That's what I drive. I can tell you with 35 MT's I get 15 around town and as much as 17 if cruise is set on highway driving 70. But it doesn't drop off much under 15 even when pulling a load, unless you driving in serious hills. Have not had any issues with it, except when I got bad diesel and had to replace entire fuel delivery system but that's not on the manufacturer. I have 150k miles on it now. Outside of the obvious added expense to drive a diesel, I'd recommend it. All the ford mechanics I've talked to about the 6.7 said they are close to bullet proof like the 7.3. Now I'm not completely sold on that statement but it's been a good truck for me.

If you are not dead set on a Ford, I'd look at the new Ram. I have driven Ford since I was 16. My current truck is a Ram 2500 and I couldn't be happier sight the switch.

6.7 came out in 2011. Have several of friends with them and I just sold mine. Had it for 3 years with 0 problems. 6.0 and 6.4 are basically junk unless you do modifications to them. 7.3 was a good engine also. With stock tires which are 34.1" tall I averaged 18.3-18.4 in hunting season when I wasn't pulling anything. Got a little over 10 pulling my 40 foot toyhauler. Mine was a 2012. Got buddies with an 11, 12,13,14, and a couple with 15's. None have had any trouble yet.

I've heard good things about the 6.7 if you want to get an F250 diesel. Remember, the diesel jumps the price tag up a LOT! If you aren't towing heavier loads with some regularity, make the smart decision and save some pennies and get a gas engine (if you are buying new-ish). I assume you are wanting an F250 b/c you like the truck itself. That's fine, it's a good looking, very spacious truck. If you have a slightly open mind, take a look at a Ram. I have been a life long Chevy truck owner, but I switched to a Ram this year. The new Ram's are about 10% cheaper (sometimes even cheaper than that) than a Ford or Chevy equally equipped. Take a good look at the 1500 Ram with the Hemi. That is what I got. I got a 2014 4x4 Laramie Crew Cab fully loaded with Hemi for under $40k brand new earlier this year. Dodge was running great deals on left over 2014's and I couldn't pass up what Chevy or Ford would charge more than $45k for. I don't tow a lot. What I do tow is a medium sized boat and forget it's back there. I got almost 15mpg with the Hemi towing my 18' boat down to the coast. I get around 20mpg on the HWY if I stick to close to 70mph. I got over 20mpg once when driving in Arkansas below 70mph. Around town I get almost 18mpg's. It's very comfortable, and it is HUGE inside. My friend has a newer F250 and it's not much bigger inside than my Ram. I've put almost 10k on it so far and it's been great. Smooth, quiet, and is the fastest 1500 pickup out there (other than the Raptor). 400hp is the most power in a standard model half ton right now. The 8 speed transmission is great. Above all else, what sold me hands down was the 100k power train warranty. That's real peace of mind.

I have a 2011 f250 with 150000 miles and my company truck is a 2012 125000 miles both with the 6.7 and both are used pulling equipment around. The only problem I have had were the exhaust gas temp sensor and both trucks let me down, it was warranty but, when sitting on the side of hwy 49 in blazing heat it sucks! I know carry 4 sensors in each truck so if it happens again I can change them and roll on. I average 17.4 in my 4wd and 21 in the 2wd , when pullin it drops to around 15-18 but never has it struggled with power to pull .
