What knife are you guys running? Looking for a new blade

Postby gator » Sun Aug 16, 2015 8:47 am

have leatherman utility tools just about anywhere within arms reach but looking for a dedicated knife. Want something light with a low profile i can carry without really knowing it's there.

Whatever make, get an "assisted open" type. I'll never have any other kind. Amazing how much the one handed operation helps...especially if the thumb knob never seems to work for some of us clumsy folk!

I've got a benchmade Osborne axis folder. Partial serration. It clips on scrubs and church pants. Holds a edge really well and is hefty enough that you can really lean on it and it works.

The Adams knife they have is pretty cool but they have D2 tool steel which is really hard. I like the 154CM that the rift is made of.

Places I've found that you cannot carry it. I've found out the hard way
Six Flags over Georgia, red rocks amphitheater , insectarium in New Orleans.

Microtech or benchmade for a pocket knife! I love my Microtech, it's super light and scary sharp. I have a Winkler belt knife close by if I need to cut through a car door or anything so the Microtech is enough for daily tasks.

My everyday pocket knife is a Puma that I have had for about 9 years. Not sure of name or model but it is perfect size, low profile and holds a good edge. I can't stand a big knife in my pocket and never could find a small one that I liked until this one.

spiderco dragonfly 2 for edc, at the moment. i like smaller/shorter knives...kershaw od-2 is another good small knife, but is made of softer steel. it's really good for breasting out ducks and fairly inexpensive ($25ish).
