Tv at camp

Postby sadie1 » Sat Aug 01, 2015 11:15 am

What would be my best option to be able to watch tv at my camp? Cable is not an option, and i dont want to pay $30/month for a satellite subscription that I am going to watch 8 times a year. There has got to be something out there or package i dont know about that would allow for only using it a limited amount. Anybody run into the same thing and have a good solution??

Antenna. Get one that mounts outdoors up high, probably $100+. It'll be worth it.

Take a sat box from your house. $100 for a satellite dish. Mount it and turn it on.

So if I have satellite at my house, I can buy an additional dish and an additional box and just pay like its an extra box at my house but it will work at a different location??

We had to get a satellite subscription at the camp for 12 months then cancel, and take an extra box from home for it. No problems the past 3-4 years

The extra box and dish will work but is a pain to set up but is worth it once you do get it to work. Already had a dish at camp but it was different than one at the house so I had to get them to walk me through setup but if you don't mind waiting on hold it is a great option. I second what was said about the genie... They caught on folks were just taking boxes to weekend houses etc.

There's only one disadvantage of adding a box to your account. It's restarts your 2 yr commitment contract. I learned the hard way a few yrs ago and had to pay a $280 early termination fee.

Doesn't matter to them. If you add a box bought through them, ebay or given to 2nd hand, they restart the commitment and will not tell you.

I actually have 2 HD Dish Network satelites I am about to sell if anyone is interested. We paid $100 and bought a DirectTV satelite for our camp and use an extra DirectTV box from my dad's during hunting season. Wayyyyy cheaper than most anything other than rabbit ears. I think it is $5 a month for an extra box.

I bought the extra box a year ago come September just logged on my dish account tonight and it shows my two year commitment expired in April. I bought the box instead of rent so I wonder if that has anything to do with it
