blue wing migration

Postby the tree » Mon Jul 27, 2015 1:15 pm

been watching some newly hatched model ducks the past couple of weeks. They are starting to show their feathers. I suspect the coast will start to see blue wings in the next couple of weeks and curious as the amount of days between the hatch and first migration?

They can fly after about 5 weeks of being hatched but need longer to forage for the fall migration. Drakes are the first to come down to molt and get away from nesting hens and ducklings. You know, typical male behavior.

Wives and kids or getting shot at with friends! Regardless of the temps, something about watching teal flying around a august coastal marsh that makes me forget the 100 degree temps...for a moment.
