Headed down to Empire for a few days. The river is up and I'm sure the east side is full of fresh water. Anybody been down that way lately? I'd appreciate any help I can get, as I've got a 10 and a 12 year old with me and I need to put them on some fish. Thanks y'all!

Just got back from Hopedale, LA. You are correct river is high and middle of summer so its tough. We fished the sound around rigs for the most part and did fairly well. We had a lot of throw backs due to size, but ended up keeping 111 specks, 2 reds, and a couple sheepshead. If your going to just be fishing the marsh areas its going to be really tough.

If you are fishing the Delacroix area, I'd suggest running out to the south part of black bay, down around stone island and south towards the iron banks. Also heard folks doing well out towards breton sound islands but I haven't been out there yet this summer so I Cant give you a good report. If you fishing west out towards cocodrie, I'd run out to the islands. Timbalier and west fishing my way along the islands towards raccoon point. If grand isle area, I'd fish the beach side of the Chenier, or shoot over to East Timbalier. Also heard the marsh in the leeville area was holding trout too, but I don't fish that area so I m no help there. That covers plenty of good fishing areas along the south and south east corners of our state. We will have over a foot tide range this weekend with high tide around noon depending where you fish. Should be dam good conditions. I'll be in Delacroix. Hope that helps you out some.

River has had black bay messed up all summer. If fishing the east side I would go out in the sound like Grizwald said.

We're catching a few in Bay La Mer. No size to them, but the kids had a blast. Caught some reds too. Probably going on the west side tomorrow.

Had to make an audible with the water conditions and the wind that kicked up early this morning. Caught 14 reds, 8 founder, and 12 green trout along the north shore of lake borgne this morning. River has the specks spread thin.

Fished on the west side of Empire yesterday. Started out slow but finally got into some trout. Caught 2 catfish for every trout and ran out of bait with about 50 trout in the box.
