The NYSE actually shut down earlier today - as in went off line, trading stopped. They are claiming that it was an internal glitch. Maybe coincidentally, the Wall Street Journal and Zerohedge websites went down today too.

i was at a meeting with a few "influentials" in attendance..they got into the shutdown during the market (cotton) phase of the meeting and said it shut down over china's instability.

The good news is if it does crash we will have somebody new in office with some common sense and he will be viewed as one of the greatest presidents ever and people will realize what an idiot we have running things now.
