Son's first fish

Postby duramax » Thu Jun 25, 2015 3:12 pm

Well I took my 2 y/o son Landon out to my buddy's pond to see about catching a couple bluegill and nab his first fish. We got up Saturday morning and dug up a couple worms from the yard, and packed up. I actually set up my video camera and just turned it on to video the entire trip. We arrived just as it started to lightly rain. It didn't bother him in the slightest. We hooked on a worm and tossed it out. We caught his first one in about 2 minutes. He was excited, but I was probably twice as excited. We caught a couple more before we latched on to something bigger. We were using my ultra-light spinning rod, and knew right away it was a decent fish. Finally, we coaxed the 3ish pound bass to shore and I yanked him from the water. It kind of startled him since I kind of used the tactic a competitor in the bassmaster classic uses to pull the bass out of a livewell to show off his fish. After a second or two I got a big grin out of him and even though I had to use a screenshot from the video of his bass as the only photo evidence, it's a pic I know I'll treasure for a long time.

Here's a few pics from the day:

Very cool! Can remember my dad taking me hunting & fishing when I was younger. Hopefully it grows into something he will love to do from here on out. Congrats to the little guy and a round of applause for dad.

Well done dad, well done!
I am interested in purchasing duck calls that were made by Mike McLemore. I am a family member and they have a sentimental value.

Man that is awesome! My little girl caught her first fish about that age and she loves it. Those are the best memories, and ones youll never forget
