New Boat???

Postby quackerkiller » Mon Jun 08, 2015 10:11 am

Knocking around at the idea of purchasing a new boat... been looking at the 1752 weld built line and a 50 hp tohatsu tiller... my question to you fellas is has any of you had any experience with the tohatsu 4 strokes? I also have the chance to get a 1648 war eagle with a 2002 50 hp merc 2 stroke..has anyone owned the merc? Wondering about fuel economy and power with both motors...

I have a 2013 1648 War Eagle with a 30hp Tohatsu tiller. It is up for sale. I am currently waiting on a new boat and have stuck with Tohatsu. Engine runs great, plus comes with a 5 yr warranty. Have had zero issues with the motor.

Get the tohatsu forty pull restrictor plate and haul ass save money too. They are great motors and putting out som badass speed with the ambush/havoc/edge boats.

I have heard of people doing that with the tohatsu's! I went to Jackson area today and shopped around looking at different makes.... Just couldn't quite find a flavor I liked.... I want a havoc, but I'm too cheap....

I have driven one of the new 40 hp 4 stokes recently. It's very impressive.

I had a 9.8 Tohatsu 4stroke. They make all smaller (25hp and under I believe) 4stroke engines for Nissan, Merc as well, just rebranded. They are fantastic engines. I see no reason based on that alone that the 50's would be any different. I've never heard a peep of trouble out of anyone that owns the bigger ones. Very quiet, easy starting, easy to maintain. They would be on my short list if I were in the market for a new motor.
