Hate to hear this. Glad I had the pleasure to see him play before he passed. R.I.P to a legend!

Donia...I sat down in a bigtop tent in Greenville .... 25 years ago! Late one Fri nite.
He came out, and owned the place!..... Come to think of it... MAYBE HE REALLY DID OWN THE PLACE?!?!

Couldnt make myself get up and leave! Only time I ever saw him!

I'll never forget it !!!

he played free concerts in inda'nola for years, before they started charging to get in the gate (which still was a miniscule amount compared to the show he put on). every concert, the first hour was played to kids and kids only...no adults allowed front-stage! many many a cracka' has attended his post homecoming concerts across "the tracks"...rare occasion any other time of the year!
outstanding human being and musician!

Back when in college in the 90's I loved to go see him at homecoming. I saw him a bunch and just never did get enough of him. Last I saw him was about three years ago, he could hardly walk to the stage and sat told a lot of stories and played a little. He still had "it", one of my favorite musicians of all time. I miss him already.
