I drive an Accord all week for work. Bought my weekend truck a few months ago. 2004 Ford Excursion with 140K miles on it for $4,300.00. Yes, it gets 12 miles to the gallon but for trips to the lake or deer camp only, it is a bargain all the way around.

Great discussion guys. FYI my Dad just bought a 2015 F250 Superduty Lariat GAS BURNER for $48,000. That price was after $4000 of discounts. He said the diesel was about $8k higher. I tried to get him to buy used but he is old, hard headed, has some money, figures he isn't going to live much longer, and wanted a brand new truck.

I'm stuck on getting a new truck as we speak... I have a 2005 gmc with 227,000 miles on it... If I worked at the house I would keep going with it.. Put a new trans in it 20,000 miles ago... But I drive anywhere from 600-700 miles every two weeks for work... Only thing stopping me is the reduced work in the oilfield... Been looking at a new f-250, but that $60,000 price tag for a truck is something I just can't see myself paying..

Not sure if yall know it or not, but dodge is selling a 5 year unlimited mileage bumper to bumper warranty for $1300 at time of purchase. You cant beat that if you are not brand loyal. I am a Chevy man, but since they just reduced powertrain warranty from 100,000 miles to 60,000 miles starting with 2016 models I will probably go dodge next time.

My first home cost 85k. I can't get my mind wrapped around driving a depreciating asset that's anywhere near that. The last 3 trucks I've driven were 275k-plus miles and the least of this runs like a top and is driven by my teenager. But it's not just trucks, it's everything. While we were distracted by the dancing bears of pop-media, the rug was jerked out from under us. Seen beef prices lately? Can buy fresh-from-the-boat Gulf jumbo shrimp for what ground chuck cost at Walmart.

Herrin gear just advertised 12500 off msrp in a TV commercial.

That should get it back down to normal pricing if legit?

New Chevrolet and gmc dealers are advertising 8 grand off new trucks. Get a truecar.com price and then tell them you want the 8k off. I had a friend just get a 15 Chevy 1500 high country 4x4 for 45k out the door. Truck has Nav, a/c seats, which is the greatest creation since the wheel for a big man. Sticker on the truck was in the mid 50's.

In 2010, 30% off sticker was the norm for SLE Sierras.

I'm looking at a window sticker on the Buick enclave loaner car I'm driving today. The warranty is described as follows six-year 70,000 mile powertrain limited warranty and separately it lists a four year 50,000 mile limited bumper-to-bumper warranty.

Little less on the powertrain and more on the bumper to bumper. Assuming it is limited the same way we are used to seeing?
