Ask DS Braintrust - Headlight Issue

Postby jacksbuddy » Tue Mar 24, 2015 8:00 am

Ok, this is wierd. Last night after getting gas, the display on my 2005 Ford Escape said "Check Right Headlamp". Sure enough, my low beam light was not working. Go to parts house #1 to get a replacement bulb, but they're out of stock. Get back into said Escape, and the headlight is now working. Since I'm thinking there might be a short in the bulb, I go to parts house #2 and get replacement bulbs. Once home, I change out the low beams on both headlamps, check everything to make sure they're working and all is a-okay.

This morning, I get the "Check Right Headlamp" message again, and sure enough it ain't working.

Do any of y'all have a clue as to where this ghost in the machine might be hiding?

Wiring connection. I had a light out this week, went and got a bulb. As soon as I started fiddling with the connection to the bulb it came back on.

Next time it's out, turn on your low beams. I'm betting once you start moving things around you'll see it come back on at some point.
