A trubite to my dad.

Well, dad, the visitation and services are over. You would have been proud and humbled by the many family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and others that came by to pay their respects and to tell mom that they would be there for her. We cried some. We laughed some. We celeberated a life well lived.
A lot of folks were stunned by how quick you left us. I know you went out on your terms as you would not have wanted mom to take care of you or to "fuss" over you. That was YOUR job to take care of your loved ones from mom to your sisters Marie and Deah(who miss you so dearly).

Now. How does Jr. say goodbye to Sr.? You have always been in my corner even if I did not deserve it. You taught me and the rest of your children the meaning of a good work ethic by your example. As much as you worked you still found time to help neighbors, Church, and others with your many talents(self taught) in carpentry, cement work, plumbing, or what ever it took! The Sea Explorers got a lot of you time as five of your seven were involved. The Scouts on those trips that you went on became "your boys" and they still talk about "Goombud". You always gave of yourself.

You cared deeply for family and loved all equally. You were all about the babies as evident of pictures of everyone of the grandkids and even kids mom babysat in your lap at your spot at the table whether feeding them or just playing with them. That is when your smile shined the brightest. I am so glad that later in life, you would end phone calls with "I love you" and face to face meetings with a hug and a kiss as earlier on it just was not something us guys did.

If people say to me,"You're just like your dad.", I will smile and think that I have just been payed the biggest compliment in the world! I am proud to have been, Jr. and hope I can be half the man that you were, dad.
