In areas where stupidity only harms the user, like riding a horse, I'm for zero government involvement. For areas where stupidity is going to potentially harm the user as well as my wife or kids or your brother, there should be a basic and effective means to attempt to avoid the obviously stupid errors.

1010, in your examples you have to pass a driving test to get a DL and be 21 to consume alcohol. Both are areas where public safety is concerned, and concealed carry is absolutely in that category. I'll go so far as to say that I believe there should be a 10-15 minute proficiency test to issue a basic CC permit.

Driving is not a right granted to us. Using that as an argument is like comparing apples and oranges.

I would support it if I knew it wouldn't lead to confiscation of legally owned weapons. Or something else like denied home insurance or increased medical coverage. Or just having you're name posted somewhere just bc I have a permit. It sounds far fetched I know! But is it really!

Based on the information that is out there about this bill, I would assume that it is safe to say that it is dead or soon to be dead. The MS Gun Rights Group that have proposed this have royally pissed off the individuals that sponsored the bill. They have taken the stance the people like Rep. Andy Gipson are anti-gun... . He is an NRA Protector of Freedom award winner and authored the bill to allow open carry in MS.

Ironically, or maybe not, the guy that is pushing this in the legislature was Chris McDaniel's communications director (and many feel as though he is the main reason the wheels fell off the McD campaign with so many controversies).
