Just bought a tractor this past fall and I'm wanting to plant some summer plots at my club for deer, have a two row planter and a broadcast spinner but no drill, what do you guys mostly plant and or recommend? I'm located in Winston/Noxubee counties with zero Ag and hardwoods are diminishing every year.

Over near Mashulaville(sp) or Macon?

Iron and clay peas are great - but don't row plant them.

If you had some wet - semi wet ground plant joint vetch - I like to mix in a little iron and clay peas. - one of the easiest to grow - and the deer absolutely love it.

Soybeans are great as well - plant these with your planter

sunflowers are also a great summer plot - they love eating the leaves - then you can also dove hunt over it.

I've did the RR forage soybeans last year. They did very well broadcast.

I started some clover 2 years ago and it is going strong. I am angling towards having a couple of perennial plots that don't need much maintenance through the year. Im trying to avoid the zero food plot time at the end of the summer before the winter plots come on strong.

I have had good success with Sanders Tecomate line of products. You can probably find similiar products at your local co-op.

What's the word on LabLab? I've heard about it for years. Is it just that much better?

What grows in the red clay/ sandy soils around holly springs? Fall and summer.

I've cut through that-a-way on the way to Land-o-Lakes in Brooksville...last time was two weeks ago, in fact! Man, there are a FEW deer camps in those woods! Y'all off the road that runs along the refuge line or back off to the east? Who's building that huge house on that big farm back in there? Some doctor owns the farm, I think.

Sounds like you are over in Doc Taylor's area his son was building a big brick house a while back, I'm west of his place south of refuge the dummy line on the refuge runs through my camp, and singleton road sepperates us from the refuge. We have about 6500 acres in one big black in there.
