Lasik ?

Postby Jelly » Mon Dec 29, 2014 8:04 am

Has anyone had Lasik done more than once?

I had my eyes done about 15 years ago when I lived in Oklahoma and I need a "touchup" to say the least.

Just wondering if it can be done more than once..
Why is my mouth so dry this morning, when I drank so much last night?

Duck season will make you realize how bad your eyes have gotten..

The answer is maybe...

It all depends on the corneal thickness. You would have to have LASIK again and you wold not be a candidate for an enhancement due to the amount of time lapsed since your previous surgery. If you are around Madison I can do a pentacam on you and let you know if you can do it.

Dr. B

(although I think mfaulkner was looking for the other Dr. B)

What s the max time for a "touch-up"/enhancement? Had LASIK probably about 8-9 years ago. Vision seems ok but can tell it isn't as crisp as it was right after LASIK.

Dr McCaa in Jackson told me she would for a lifetime. But the last time I went to her about one she said mine would be too thin and might collapse.

I had lasik done about 12 years ago and because my vision was so terrible, I accepted the risks.
It was the best decision I've ever made.

However, I wouldn't do it again for just a minor improvement. Not worth the risk IMO.

My wife had LASIK when it first became available down here. Probably 15 years ago or more. She went from "coke bottle glasses" to no correction. Now, she needs a "correction" again. However, she is really cautious about having LASIK again since she has had dry eyes ever since the first procedure.

Dr. B or Dr. Jeff: In general, is this risky to do it again?

Assuming the thickness is there the risk would be the same as doing it for the first time. Her dry eye would have to be addressed before doing LASIK and it might make it where she is not a candidate.

I had a couple of questions as well, if you don't mind answering. Can lasix be performed if an astygmatism is present?
And with the dry eye / sensitivity questions. ..contacts really bother my eyes...I can wear them about three days (taking in and out) then by the fourth day I have to take them out to keep from having "eye boogers"

Assuming everything else is a go would this knock me out of the candidate pool
