Anyone have recommendations on repairing a small tear in a soft top?

I have owned many Jeeps and have always had issues in certain spots that the stitching wore out. Heavy mono fishing line has gotten me good results. I simply used the existing holes and just threaded back in. The test was 50lb and higher. Never used braid.
