pintail mount

Postby LODI QUACKER » Thu Dec 11, 2014 10:58 am

I killed a big ole sprig in that AR green timber and just have to get it mounted.I have one that is mounted flying from side to side so you see all of his back and wings. What are some ideas on another pose for a pintail that y'all like that will be different from the one I have.

I like either a dead hanging mount or a mount where they are flushing off the water facing away from you with the head looking to the side. You get all the beauty of a sprig in that position.

It will probably be more expensive, but my next pintail mount will be a pedestal mount. I want it like it has just taken off the water about 8-10 inches with that fake water making it look like a splash is coming off it. Then add some local vegetation around it to make it look like where you killed it.

kinda a cross between these two...

Jeff, I do like that but I have a double weigon mount both in that pose.

I like the preening idea but it would have to be wall mounted. Dogs and kids would be hell on a pedestal mount.

I like that champ, but not right for this bird I don't think.

IMO the beauty of a pintail is most obvious on the backside I would mount it so you can see that preening would likely be my second choice. I REALLY like them in a dead mount too.

I am a big fan of the dead mount these days. Last 5 birds I have had done were in dead mounts.

Joel, I really like the dead mounts too. But I don't have any other worthy birds. The ones I have seen have been full straps. Idk.

A quick google search of "pintail dead mount" found these and they look good to me. And Pat told me, you can always add to it.

Or just wait til you can do this.

Hard to beat banking or jumping on a pintail to show colors. You could do a wall pedestal for the preening look if that's what you want.
