Side mirror for Chevy Tahoe?

Postby woody » Tue Oct 14, 2014 1:28 pm

Broke the side mirror on my Tahoe. Took it to a few dealerships and they are all in the ballpark range of $700+ and say that you have to replace the entire mirror despite no damage to the entire mirror/housing. I called O'Reilley Auto parts and told them make and model, etc. and they told me it would be around $100 for the part. The last body shop I went to told me that O'R probably didn't know what I was talking about and/or that part for $100 probably would have the right plugs to fit the Tahoe.

that made me scratch my head a bit because I didn't understand why someone would make a part for a Tahoe that wouldn't have the correct plugs for the Tahoe. I have a friend looking for a used one at a pull apart place, but does this sound like everyone is giving me the run around and trying to screrw me out of a couple hundred dollars or do I really have to replace the whole mirror and that the part is ~$500?

You can find a single OEM mirror on autoanything.com or ebay/amazon for $100 or less.

They all have the same plug, I believe.

Is just the mirror broke? I broke the mirror on my Silverado a couple years ago and popped the plastic piece out of the housing and had a glass shop replace the mirror and I popped it back in place. Cost was about 20 bucks. Now, on the other hand, if you're talking about the electronics not working, I can't help there.

YES its expensive.. I've replaced the glass twice in one of mine.. If the round cup like deal that has the fingers is not broken or the fingers, all you need is the glass.. if you have heated that is what the plug in is for or blinkers.. You might could go with just a regular mirror.. Its been awhile since I got one but just the glass was around $200.. Mine are heated.. I even have one or two broken fingers but it is fine..

Are you saying that you only broke the glass? Is the mirror glass heated? Do you have folding mirrors? Does the mirror glass have the blinker indicator in the glass? Do the mirror glasses have blind spot indicator? Where r u located?
I am interested in purchasing duck calls that were made by Mike McLemore. I am a family member and they have a sentimental value.

My 2008 had just the glass broken. It was $350 to have the glass replaced at the dealership. That was for the heated mirror with the turn signal in the mirror.

you can get the plain jane replacement (no heat, signal, auto-dim) at napa for around $75 and replace yourself fairly easy. the biggest part to be careful with is getting the ball to slip back into the joint completely without flexing the glass too much on the corners (i did...doh!).

I peeled one of my 2014 f150 earlier this year. Got the part through a buddy and it was 420. Dealership quoted 520 or so. He charged me a few bucks to put it on. I wanted to puke as soon as it happened. I knew it would scare 500 bones.
There will be a day....

Check jcwhitney. I order a whole new power mirror for my 97 tahoe and it was only $26 including shipping. Fit great and works great.

I bought one for my wife's 08 tahoe last month, make sure the part number from the dealership, and get one off Ebay for about $150, this was heated, power folding, turn signal, etc..etc..

Plugged right up no problem, just make sure the part number from the dealership so you can be sure it will plug up.
