Gator Hunting and Emergency Rooms

First of I'd like to thank Quinn, and Rick for taking Hunter and myself along for a gator hunt last night. We both had a blast. That's all Hunter has talked about today.

The hunt was going great and we had managed a few gators and several close calls when all of a sudden it kinda went down hill. We were paralleling a gator getting ready to make our cast to snag him when the boat hit something under water. I went out the front of the boat and felt something rip into my hand. The rest is history. I've got way too many pain meds flowing to tell the story in full, but I'm sure Rick or Quinn could give a better account than I can..

This is after they pushed it through

Ouch. That's gonna leave a mark.

I've pushed a few fishing treble hooks with barbs fully imbedded in my fingers, thigh, etc all the way through so that the barb could be clipped off with wire cutters and the hook pulled out. Hurt like a m*****f**** , but I was able to continue fishing and avoided a trip to a doctor. But, it would take a real he-man to push a gator getter treble hook barb on through without the aid of some serious meds.

Hope you recover soon.

He was hurtin like a mofo for sure ..I thought he was gona shake to death till we got them wet clothes off at the ER and they wraped him in warm blankets...the local shot in the hand hurt him more than the hook did...the boy took two rounds of dilaudid talked a little smack made some funny faces but stayed awake the whole time ... Jolee took his son Hunter to the house while we took care of him at the ER...Hunter is one great kid and was a champ about the whole situation.. It was funny all the nurses and doc wanted pics so the could add it to their weird things board.... ya know when ya think Doctor ya think needles and scalpel not vise grips and side cutters ...ha....ole josh is a tuff one sfor sure but he does have a weekness...white coats and needles... maybe next yr ole Hunter can get that 12 fter that picked the boat up when he ran under it ...hope ya feeling better bud

That is what happens when you try to cast ahead of Quin and you must have eaten one of Rick's snacks without asking. No doubt in my mind the conspired that. :-)

I'll be the first to admit, it hurt like hell, but when he started digging around the bone with that needle, I thought I was gonna go through the ceiling. Holy He11 that was painful!!!

I feel bad about it... We had been planning this hunt for months, and our first weekend got rained out. And Josh and Hunter drove all the way down here to Vicksburg to let that youngun catch and kill him a gator and THIS happens. It was a freak accident, but it still sucks. Hope it heals quickly, bud.

Nothing to feel bad about. Like you said, it was a freak accident. I had a great time and so did Hunter. That's all I've heard about is that 12 footer and how its my fault that I should have got that second hook in him LOL.
