Ask DS - Totalled vehicle - retain to sell or let go?
My car was flooded recently and declared a total loss. I presume it still has value, and I was asked if I wanted it or not. When the insurance company pays, would they reduce the payment if I tried to keep the car and sell it for parts? Is it worth trying to do that? Any thoughts? Thanks.

No. They total it, give you check for what its worth and you buy it back at salvage value.

If it was flooded, I'd take the check and walk away!
I am interested in purchasing duck calls that were made by Mike McLemore. I am a family member and they have a sentimental value.

I don't know......me and a buddy flooded a Nissan Maxima all the way up to the radio turkey hunting in Tn about 10 years ago. We got it pulled out and drove it almost back to the house spittin and sputterin before it died. He got it dried out good and put another 100k on it! There were a few electrical bugs here and there, but he said it always kept things interesting!
