We were putting the boat in the water at greers ferry and pulling back up the ramp when it happened luckily! We picked up my buddies new boat on the way over here and he decided to see how fast we could pull it since the trailer pulled so smooth and luckily it didn't come apart when those shenanigans were taking place!

Yep, had that happen once going down the road on a ranger. Caliper bolt broke and the caliper apparently drug against the inner rim right there and weakened it enough to snap.

Finally got a spare brought to us this afternoon and found out what caused this fiasco. The top caliper bolt fell out, when you go forward all is well and it rides nice and tight to the rotor, go to back up and it kicks the caliper back and grinds the wheel down! Said he has been hearing it a good bit at home on the ramps but didn't think anything of it!

Just sold a set of Enkei rims that were on my Tundra when I bought it. Fella that bought them showed me a picture of one of his that split like that. Said he hit a pothole and heard the tire blow out. Didn't realize the rim was split till he went to take it off and it wobbled. Said he was lucky it didn't wreck the truck. He owns a car repair shop. Said he'd never seen one do that before from hitting a pothole.

It is scary! I was behind the truck bc I unhooked the boat and I thought for sure when I turned around I was gonna see a ball of fire!

We made it home without a bolt in it! A good 160 miles or so of hoping like hell. We checked when we got to my house to drop me off and it hadn't rubbed a bit!

2 suggestions.
1. buy a new damn bolt.
2. get a spare and keep it on the truck lol
