Yea don't just lay it in. If you want something to lay in and be able to take out, get some conveyor belt or heavy rubber

why contact cement instead of liquid nails? I'm seriously worried about having to remove this stuff after a couple of years....do ya'll just glue the outside edges or the whole thing?

you can remove it.
just rip out what you can. you can strip up the glue and foam with a grinder and wire wheel.
