I think what you are referring to are carpenter bees. I had a few around the house trying to bore into the front door. A wiffle ball bat worked well for me ha. My uncle had them and built a trap for them. Just google images for it. Very simple and his worked very well.

A chair, half a case of beer and a tennis racket.

They seem to be very thick this year. I have been using WD40 and spraying them in the holes. They usually climb out, fall to the ground, and die. I probably would be careful using the WD40 for wood siding, because its probably gonna stain. Otherwise, WD works great!!

FYI, a sprayer with soapy water will kill them. Same with wasps. No need to waste good WD40.
It coats their body and suffocates them from what I understand of insect biology.

Go to your local Co-op or feed store and look for a brown bottle with a red/yellow/green label that says "Hi Yield" (or something like that) flying insect killer. Permethren is the active ingredient, but get the 38%. mix a couple of ounces to a gallon of water and spray it in the holes. It will kill them, and keep them gone for a couple of months.

The tennis racket part sounds like waaaaaay too much work. I'm thinking 22 pistol and rat shot and the beer

If that sounds like it would be too fun and you're scared you couldn't handle it, try some permethrin. Can get it at the co-op. Madison County co-op has it in a couple of different strengths. 38% being the max they sell.

I'm with Wildfolwer. Single action is the way to go as rat shot won't cycle in your semi auto.

The Federal with the crimped end is the way to go. The CCI blue things suck, IMO.

Impress your friends and neighbors while improving the ole' hand-eye coordination. Two hands, two pistols, take car of bidness. Permethrin, WD40, tennis racket? bah humbug.

Don't you get it, this is yet another reason to buy another gun(s).

The WD 40 allows you to light them on fire when they crawl out the hole!! I like the rat shot approach, not sure if my neighbors will like it though!!

I buy the 26% Bifin at the co-op, mix 3 ounces to the gallon and spray every wood surface on the exterior of my home. Wood bees wont touch it. Matter of fact i dont have any insects around.
