I planted an area that was mainly grasses and sedges the previous growing season. It's fairly low lying and retains moisture well. I knew it would be tough the first year so I accounted for extra cleth. So far, I am seeing decent/good canopy closure in 75% of the plot now. The other areas didn't germinate due to moisture from what I can tell. I have learned a lot through this process. Next year, I plan to plant in rows vs our firminator.

I learned my lesson. Gonna have to use something to keep the deer off until they get well enough established! I may go ahead and disc them under when we put our fall plots in and lime it!

I'm surprised they haven't figured out how to get to this plant in the cage yet! I'd be tickled if it was all as tall as that plant!

they're starting to work this one over. Jumped a deer out of it! She was so into eating my beans I got out of the truck and started walking out into the field before she even noticed me!

This is what those beans will do when you don't have many deer.

Hell I didn't really think we had that many deer!! I would put out a camera but it would have to be one that sends the pics bc knowing where it's at some body would steal it!
