Okay, I guess the comment was intended to elicit some arguement from me, but I can give two $#!+ on what you say. I only provided what the state of MS requires,; I didnt state that I always follow this myself. Yes, you are right, you can register the boat with the "bill of sale" with witness just as the form that you shared states. However, I would like to see you explain how you just purchased say a $80,000 fairly new, open fisherman from out of State and dont plan on paying sales tax to register. I dont believe the old I paid $100 deal will work on this one.

The form Lodi posted is exactly what I've used the last 5 times I've purchased a boat. They have all been used and from out of state. Sending this bill of sale form in, along with a check for registration (which is based on the length of boat) has always gotten me an envelope in return with a registration card and stickers. Damn some of y'all can make the simplest of tasks so complicated…

Lodi is right!! Called Jackson and they said you don't pay sales tax from a individual no matter if it's in state or out. Or a dealership unless that state requires you to. Bought it from a dealer in Arkansas and they don't require sales tax. So I don't pay sales tax.
