ADS - mosquito yard spray - what chemical is used?

Postby Bercy » Tue Mar 25, 2014 1:57 pm

Brain trust -> What chemicals are the mosquito companies spraying in back yards? Is it restricted and if not, where do you get it? I bought the indoor roach spray for about $20 for several years' worth of coverage instead of the quarterly $50+ fee and wondered if the same could be done on mosquitoes. Thanks.

Negative on the Malathion it stinks! If I were to guess I would say they use some form of permethrin.

Its permethrin. Just make sure you get water based. Oil based will burn your bushes, flowers, shrubs or whatever it gets on

I use it around the house and works on everything for me. You can spray it on plants or fruit or vegetable.

malathion is what the mosquito truck uses.

*in the off chance that you have bee hives near by, be mindful of drift when spraying malathion. that's the fastest way to "un-friend" a bee farmer!

Are you talking about the mosquito misting systems or a chemical you can spray out of a handsprayer? Most mosquito systems are using chrysanthemum flower based products to keep mosquitos away instead of flat out killing them. Some companies have come out with plant friendly insecticides with permethrin and pyrethrin to add to it. If you are talking about a handsprayer to spray around the yard..........I'd personally go with Lorsban.
