I managed to get off in time Friday to roost a squad of them. Got in early Saturday and sat under them until they woke. They gobbled a thousand times in two minutes and were on the ground within two minutes of opeining up with the morning hymnal. Of course the ladies came in and took them off but I sat tight and with some light calling, managed to take this bird at 9 am. I suppose he was a satellite bird. He was at 35 yards and, in the dark, I couldn't tell if he was facing away or at me. I took my chances and repositioned thinking his tailfan and his eyes were to my back. When I did he broke strut and trotted off 5 yards. I clucked a few times, he stopped, and ol' booray laid another public land bird down. 10 inch beard, 7/8" inch spurs. It's going to be a good year to introduce some folks to what makes us "tick". Including my boss!

Slow around my neck of the woods..... (North attala county).... I haven't heard but one bird and that was Friday before the opener..... I'm back at work and will get home apr 2nd... They oughta to be right when I get home.... Gonna give em two weeks of hard hunting!

I killed a 2 yr old this morning, in the woods at 7, in the truck driving off with him in the back at 0743.

Killed a two year old Saturday morning. Only hot bird I have found so far.

Weekend before the season herd 3 saturday I hunted to 10am and didn't hear a so much as a peap......
